Regional Make & Takes

I finally have a few minutes to share the Make & Takes from the Stampin' Up! Spring 2011 Regional in Hartford. I already shared the CREATE banner with my previous post of the frame. There is also one card I haven't quite finished since I just got the punch to create the border.

The make & takes used the stamp set Nature Walk & Botanical Gazette DSP from the Occasions Mini catalog, Thank You Kindly from the Idea Book & Catalog. They were a lot of fun for me since they all have a vintage style which is not my normal style. The above card is a 3 x 3 mini card and includes a vanilla rosette that we colored with a Cherry Cobbler marker and our Aquapainter. After coloring set aside to dry.

Next is a full card we did a ruffle technique with the seam binding ribbon and we used the Color Spritzer tool with markers to spritz the card with some extra color.

Next is a set of four mini 3 x 3 cards two above and two below. These were pretty easy peasy added some stamped images to the DSP, stamped the thank you sayings, punched out with the Decorative Label punch. Then you can use your Versamark pad to distress the labels a bit. Tie the seam binding in a knot and add with glue dots.

Finally the set of above four cards fits in this cute card holder. You take a piece of cardstock 7 x 7 and score it at 3.5 on both sides then cut off two corners essentially making what looks like a house.

Stampin' Up! Regional Make & Takes

I am super excited to share this frame with you. I think it came out just gorgeous! I got the idea from fellow demo Cindee on this post. It was something that was available at Leadership in January for purchase, but she decided to make her own at home. It went together pretty quickly once I had the supplies.

The frame is 16 x 20 and came from a national craft store since I had a gift card from the holidays. I brought swatches of Marina Mist and Cherry Cobbler cardstock to my local Benjamin Moore shop. We matched the Cherry Cobbler to their Pomegranate and I bought the little color sample for about $4. I picked up the chicken wire at our local Agway and we used a staple gun to attach in the back.

If you attended a Spring Regional you will recognize the projects. I have attached 4 of 5 of our make & takes. Sorry for the glare on the cards, but I have them in clear envelopes to protect them. I had some tiny clothespins so that is what the cards are attached with. I have the banner attached with lots of linen thread.

Let me know if you have any questions. I have a big event on April 1st and I am so excited to bring this frame along with me to display these samples. I will share some close-ups of the make & takes tomorrow.

Stampin' Up! Regional in Hartford! Part 2

Here is a picture of my card front swap that I brought with me to the Stampin' Up! Regional this past Saturday. I made up 30 of these card fronts and then swapped with other demos and went home with 30 different card fronts. This was my first time swapping outside of my upline's events so it was exciting. I really got some lovely cards that I will be recreating and of course giving credit to the original artist.

My favorite part of the day was the Workshop presentation by fellow demo Glenda Travelstead from IL. She was a hoot and she demoed a bunch of products from the upcoming Summer Mini catalog that begins on May 1st. I also loved the presentations from the home office staff including Pam Morgan, Shannon West & Donna Griffith. They gave us awesome tips and featured such a variety of Stampin' Up! products. They were so genuine and shared some of their personal stories as well. I felt like I already knew them in a way since I have listened to some audio trainings & watched youtube videos of them.

My fabulous upline Selene made everyone that came in her group the cutest box with a Stampin' Up! button bracelet and some yummy chocolate inside. I also made myself and my downline Colleen matching chipboard flowers to put on our name badges. I went to my first Stampin' Up! event ever with Colleen so it was very fitting that we attended our first corporate event together.

If you are interested in signing up to be a demonstrator this is the best time of the year. During Sale-A-Bration which runs through March 31st the Starter Kit is 15% off at $148.75 (valued at over $300 worth of supplies) then there is a special for a free add-on bundle valued at $50 plus you can get Sunny Fun which is stamp set out of the upcoming Summer Mini for free as well! Stampin' Up! Regional in Hartford!

What an amazing day yesterday! I am still recovering from waking up at 5am, but it was so worth it! I traveled to Hartford, CT with 10 other Stampin' Up! demos from my area to attend the Hartford, CT Regional event. Boy did it ever knock my socks off since it was my first official corporate event.

There is so much to mention that I will try to recap some tonight and some tomorrow. The picture above is one of my swaps I brought along. I made 12 of these and can you guess what is inside? That's right - a mini bag 100 calorie pack Kettle Corn popcorn. Yum! Hopefully you were one of the lucky ones to go home with this cutie.

I have seen a few ideas out there for popcorn holders and just winged it with mine. I finished these on Friday night so I was leaving it a little to the last minute. LOL! Even though the bags I bought were 'mini bags' the size was the same as a full bag. I did want to add some embossing with my Big Shot and embossing folder so I found a way to make it work. I used Rich Razzleberry and Elegant Eggplant as my base cardstock layer cut to 5.5" x 9". Then I scored it at 2 1/4" and 6.5". I had to keep the base layer 5.5" so it would fit in my embossing folder. I ended up laying the cardstock flat and opening up my folder and laying the middle portion into the folder and it fit perfect. Once embossed I wrapped the cardstock around the popcorn and added the ribbon around the front portion. I used sticky strip to adhere the back to keep it sealed shut nicely. It is a bit hard to see, but I added one little bling rhinestone on the stamped tag.

I so much enjoyed the presentations from home office staff, the wow presentations from other demos, stamping (we had 5 beautiful Make & Take projects), swapping with other demos and just getting revived and invigorated about Stampin' Up! I really hope we have another regional in the New England area next year especially if airfare prices keep going up meaning I can't afford to travel to Utah for Convention.

Let me know if you are interested in learning more about Regionals.

Spring Easter Card Swap

Here is my card swap from last Friday night's team meeting at Selene's. The swap theme was Spring so I definitely think the color combination of Daffodil Delight, Pretty in Pink and Marina Mist fits that nicely. I received a box of goodies from Stampin' Up! last week so I was determined to use my new Fun Flowers Big Shot die from the Occasions Mini catalog.

I used a technique called Inlaid embossing on this card. You can say this card is probably Big Shot over the top! I used the Top Note Die to cut the Daffodil and white layers then I cut out the edge on the white layer and matted to the Daffodil. Then I cut the flowers from the Fun Flowers die in Daffodil & Pretty in Pink. Then I glued the flowers to the white layer and ran all four layers through the Big Shot in my Square Lattice embossing folder. It adds a nice quilted look on my card. I was able to bend up the edges on the pink flower for some dimension then I added the Daffodil button.

Supplies:
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Marina Mist
Paper: Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White
Other: Big Shot, Top Note Die, Fun Flowers Die, Square lattice embossing folder, Brights button in Daffodil, linen thread, Scallop oval punch, Oval punch

Cupcake Birthday Swap

Here is my swap card for my up-upline Katherine's team meeting last night. I saw this card on Mary Brown's blog a few weeks ago and fell in love with the color combination of Pink Pirouette, Baja Breeze, Whisper White & Regal Rose. So into my favorites it went to copy later.

I used the stamp set Create a Cupcake and the coordinating Build a Cupcake punch. The cherry on top of the cupcake is from the punch too & is punched out with Red Glimmer paper. The seam binding ribbon is Baja Breeze and I just tied it around my Two Tags piece. A bunch of these items are in the current Occasions Mini catalog valid through April 30th.

This card went together fairly quickly which was just what I needed on Saturday morning so I could make 8 quickly before our weekend trip to Maine.

Supplies:
Stamps: Create a Cupcake
Ink: Baja Breeze, Regal Rose, Rose Red
Paper: Pink Pirouette, Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Regal Rose, Red Glimmer
Other: Big Shot, Two Tags Die, Polka Dot embossing folder, Scallop circle punch, Build a Cupcake punch, Baja Breeze Seam binding ribbon
