Holiday Stocking Gift Card Holder

Another project I put together during my stamping marathon last weekend. I was inspired by some stockings I saw at my girlfriend Selene's house. The die is the perfect size to hold a gift card so will be great for the holidays. It will most likely replace the gift card purse as the most popular item at my holiday craft fairs.

Just like the stocking I showed the other day I cut two pieces of the stocking, cuff, heel and toe. Then I adhered back to back by running Sticky Strip along the outside edge of the stocking. I also embossed my Whisper White cuff, heel and toe with the Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder.

Lots of fun items from the Holiday Mini catalog for this project - Frostwood Lodge Designer Series Paper, Mini jingle bells (they really jingle), and Winter Wishes stitched felt pieces. The mini jingle bells are a huge value at $2.95 for 48 bells. I added the holly stitched felt piece with a few glue dots. To get the jingle bells on the Cherry Cobbler baker's twine I used a sewing needle threader and it worked perfectly.

I can't wait to make a bunch of these stockings for decorations in my cubicle at work and at home over the fireplace.

You can purchase all the items to make these stockings in my Online Store.

Extended Candy Wrapper Die

Halloween will be here before you know it. I put together this treat holder over the weekend during my stamping marathon. I created four easy projects this weekend and did lots of prepping for the upcoming Stamp Out Breast Cancer Fundraiser too!

I have to admit I am really not too fond of the Candy Wrapper Big Shot die from Stampin' Up! Then I discovered that you can extend the size of the original to make an extended version which fits a full size candy bar. Now I am loving it a lot more!

Candy Wrapper Bigz Die - by Stampin' Up!

For this project I grabbed a large scrap of Elegant Eggplant cardstock and cut it to 6" x 9". Then I pulled out the awesome Simply Scored scoring tool and scored my cardstock at 3.5" and 5.5" on the 9" side. Then you fold in a z shape. This will give you a perfect sized piece to cover your Candy Wrapper die. Run it through your Big Shot and then the most important tip. Score all your fold lines really well including the tiny lines on the sides for the fun twisty ends. To get really strong score lines get out your bone folder. The ends take a bit of practice, but I find if I pinch one way then pinch the other way then go back and twist and open it works every time.

Before I adhered the box together with Sticky Strip I stamped with the spider web stamp from Wicked Cool. The witches shoes are stamped in Black stazon and I added a bit of Eggplant to the stockings with a marker. It is also a bit hard to see, but there are two rhinestones on the bows of the shoes. You always have to add some bling!

Supplies:
Stamps: Wicked Cool
Ink: Black stazon & Elegant Eggplant marker
Paper: Elegant Eggplant, Basic Black & Whisper White cardstock
Other: Big Shot, Candy Wrapper Bigz die, 5/8" Basic Black satin ribbon, White baker's twine, Simply Scored scoring tool, Sticky strip, 2 3/8" scallop circle punch, 1 3/4 circle punch, Basic Rhinestones jewel accents

Sparkly Holiday Stocking Bigz Die

Here is my sparkly Holiday Stocking Bigz die from Stampin' Up! I put this together yesterday for a challenge for the SuiteStampers group. I wanted to use my holiday stocking bigz die and decided to go with a snowflake theme.

I used lots of new products from the Holiday Mini catalog -Stocking die, stitched felt snowflake, Silver Glimmer Paper for my bling, Snow Burst embossing folder, 1x8 cellophane bag and Dear Santa stamp set. I started by cutting out my stocking, heel and toe and I did two of each then adhered back to back so I had a small treat holder perfect for a pen in this case. You could also add a skinny piece of candy, pencils, gift card, etc.

I added the felt piece with a Stampin' dimensional. For the tag I stamped off twice with my Marina Mist to get a watermarked look for my snowflakes. I just wrapped the tag around the cellophane bag using a piece of white baker's twine.

It is hard to get a good picture of the silver glimmer paper. This project is a lot more sparkly in person.

You can purchase the items I used for this project in my Online Store.

Would you like to get some friends together and make this project? I am available for holiday workshops aka private class to teach you how to make this cute stocking.

A Different Wedding Thank You

Since we had an unconventional wedding I decided it was okay to send a bit of an unconventional wedding thank you card. I did make more of a traditional card back in May for some of our first gifts and you can see that card here.

I actually put these cards together a bit ago, but just mailed out the last ones before I left for my business trip earlier this week. I had intended to blog a few times while away, but I found myself way too tired most nights to turn on the computer. That is what happens when you are in all day training sessions. I had a fabulous time getting to know some of my coworkers. Those that I made treats for just loved them. :-)

I really love this simple thank you card and I am sad that I used up all my Domestic Goddess Designer Series Paper. A lot of the cards were different since I used four punched postage stamps and varied the papers as much as possible. It was a bit of work to punch everything out and Big Shot die all the scallop squares and then emboss the frame. I really love the end result - clean and simple plus flat for mailing! I could even see myself changing up the papers and sentiment for a baby card, christmas card, etc.

Gifts for Coworkers

I made up these super simple little treats for some of my coworkers. I am traveling on business this week and I get to meet some of these ladies for the first time. This is my little thank you to them for all their help the past several months. I transitioned to a new department at the end of May and they have all been helping me adjust. This week is my formal training so hopefully I will feel more comfortable when I get back.

Both of the ideas I CASE'd from other Stampin' Up! demonstrators. The hand sanitizer idea came from Kimberly Van Diepen. I put these together super quick using the new Simply Scored Tool. You cut a piece of cardstock 2 by 11 (you can get four from one sheet!) then you score at 1/2", 1 1/2", 3 1/2", 4 1/2", 7 1/2" and 8 1/2". You then should crease your score lines with a bone folder. You then punch out an oval in between the 1/2" and 1 1/2" mark. Then you adhere a line of sticky strip on the 1/2" part and stick it to the inside to make a box. It should be obvious if you stand it up - you can even put the hand sanitizer inside to see how it will come together. I kept the design simple using just plain cardstock, but you can also stamp an image on your cardstock or emboss with the Big Shot. The stamp just for you is from Just Believe and the Designer Series Paper is Paisley Petals. Bath and Body Works for the mini hand sanitizers for $1 - the one I visited had some yummy flavors for Fall.

The mini chocolate bar idea came from Becky Roberts. I just wrapped a piece of the Paisley Petals cardstock cut to 2 x 5 around each mini candy. Then I tied two together with Cherry Cobbler seam binding. I added the stamped tags with some linen thread. I put a few of our pearls to the stamped images. They are stamped with Tiny Tags and punched out with the coordinating jewelry tag punch.

I hope the ladies like my little treats. If you would like to purchase any of the items to make these treats take a look at my Online Store.

Happy Stampin!,
Christine
