Simple Baby Thank You's

A friend of a friend is expecting a little girl in a few weeks and I was asked to make a diaper cake as a gift. I got to thinking that I would also like to make her a little something. I came up with a nice set of 8 baby girl thank you's. Let's face it even if you ask for no gifts there will also be people who get you something and you need thank you's!

These cards could not be cuter or sweeter. I was inspired by a simple card we made at my upline's card club this past month. I started by stamping my thank you in Melon Mambo down in the lower right corner of my card. Why did I stamp this first? Well, I wanted to emboss the entire white layer in polka dots so I would have to stamp first then emboss second.

For the onesie image I actually cheated a bit here and cut out my framelit shape first and stamped second. This is fairly easy to do if you are using the clear mount stamps. I stamped the image in Black stazon and colored in with my markers. Then I sponged around the edge of the framelit with my Pretty in Pink ink.

All the pinks on my card coordinate really well with each other even though I used three different colors. It is very subtle between the Pink Pirouette cardstock and Pretty in Pink ribbon and markers. The touches of Melon Mambo in the sentiment and heart give the card just a tiny pop of extra color.

I hope the mom-to-be enjoys writing out these sweet thank you's.

All supplies for this card can be purchased in my Online Store or by contacting me.

Happy Stampin',
Christine

My Digital Studio Tuesday

Every Tuesday Stampin' Up! unveils new downloads for our digital design program My Digital Studio. The Fantabulous You stamp brush set is pictured here one of several new downloads available today March 13th. As soon as I saw the various fun text sayings I was in love.

They immediately reminded me of my little sister that I have missed terribly the past year that she has lived out of state. We just don't get to chat and catch up as often as we both would like.

Would you like to learn more about My Digital Studio?

You can check out lots of information here at mydigitalstudio.net - blog, forum, over 14,000 samples to inspire you.

You can also download a FREE 30 day trial of the limited software at my Online Store.

Let me know if you have questions about My Digital Studio and I would be happy to help.

Happy Designing,
Christine

Herringbone Technique Birthday Card

I love how this card turned out! I saw some cards on Julie Davison's blog here and she put together a great tutorial on the Herringbone technique so I thought I would give it a try. Worked out well for the StamperswithHeART team meeting tonight as my swap card. Our theme was 'old' in colors - those are the colors that will be retiring on May 30th - Blushing Bride, Concord Crush, Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzazz & Peach Parfait.

I can't wait to meet the new colors for 2012-2014. If you don't know Stampin' Up! introduces five new colors every two years and those colors are current for two years. So we will always have 10 fresh colors. I love when I see the colors in fashion and say - oh look at that Pool Party top.

I chose the Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper for my card since it incorporates a few of the old in colors and got to work. The tutorial is very easy to follow and after making a few I really got the hang of it. Also, what I love is that my cards are all a little different depending on how I laid down my first strips of paper.

To finish off the card I added a stamped birthday image from Pretty Postage punched with the Postage stamp punch and layered with a 1 3/8" square punch. Looking at the card I still felt like it needed something else. So I added a piece of White baker's twine and tied a bow on as the finishing touch.

So what do you think - will you be trying this technique? I can't wait to try it for all sorts of cards - baby & Christmas are two that come to mind. I hope the StamperswithHeART love this card as much as I do!

All supplies can be purchased in my Online Store.

Happy Stampin,
Christine

Designer Cuts Thank You's

I was inspired by some thank you cards I saw on Patty Bennett's blog a few weeks ago to make this set of Designer Cuts thank you's. It was a perfect gift for my aunt Linda that celebrated her birthday last weekend. The Designer Cuts come 8 to pack - 4 with this design and 4 with a heart design. I purchased two packs so I had 8 of this design and 8 of the heart design. I am working on the heart design for another gift.

The Designer Cuts are so pretty in person. They are on page 9 of the Occasions Mini catalog so stock up on these before April 30th. Better yet - if you purchase these by March 31st you can get the paper and or ribbon I used for FREE. The paper I used is the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper that is part of Sale-A-Bration. The ribbon is the Everyday Enchantment ribbon which is 1/8" organdy.

I also made a box so my set was ready for a gift set. Here is a shot of them boxed up and ready:

I was stamping with my friend last Friday and said why doesn't Stampin' Up! sell clear acrylic boxes for card sets? Lo and behold by the end of the night we had a a-ha moment and I had a box for the bottom out of Very Vanilla cardstock and a clear window sheet for the cover. So the Vanilla box slides right out of the Window sheet - so clever!

So what do you think? I think these are lovely and will be stocking up on these Designer Cuts before they are gone. I sure hope Stampin' Up! keeps these type of cards in all future catalogs.

All supplies can be purchased in my Online Store or by contacting me.

Happy Stampin',
Christine
