Nursery Nest Baby Card

How could I not play along with Stamping411 this week. The sketch is so clean & simple so many possibilities - for any and every occasion. I could definitely see myself using this sketch all the time. Also, I played along last week, but never got my pic uploaded since it was blurry twice. I think I accidentally hit the wrong setting on our camera twice - ugh! I am visiting my MIL this weekend thank goodness since she used to be a professional photographer and I need some tips.

Here is the sketch:

Here is my card:

I decided to make a baby card for my stash. This one is more of a boy card so I am going to make another version using the same Designer Series Paper Nursery Nest for a girl. The three punched images are all punched from the DSP. For the owl image there is a sheet of paper full of owls and the postage stamps fits them perfectly. Then I just matted my postage stamps with coordinating colors of Pear Pizzazz & Marina Mist cardstock with my 1 3/8 square punch.

I embossed the white piece with the Stripes embossing folder and then added my baker's twine treatment, tags & bow. For the twine you start at the top and secure one end to the back of your card then go straight down the middle then back up to the top right and down to the left and then back up to the left and back down to the right and secure in the back. Hope that makes sense. Then I took a smaller piece of twine threaded on my tags and tied a bow. I did secure my tags with glue dots.

I am off to leave some love (aka comments) for the Stampin' 411 operators. After all it is Valentine's Day.

Happy Stampin',
Christine

Peach & Poppy Birthday Cupcake?

Well, there are peach desserts right? Peach cobbler is one that comes to mind. I guess going with the orange on my cupcake it could also be carrot cake! Ok now I am getting hungry.

I saw the Stamping411 sketch for this week and I wanted to challenge myself to play along. I am always needing birthday & baby cards so I grabbed my Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper and got to work. Here is the sketch and like the operators mentioned it is not that difficult when you break down each layer & measurement. I love that they give you measurement suggestions.

One great thing about Stampin' Up! DSP is that you have two designs in one piece that coordinate. So I grabbed the colorful stripes pattern with a lovely Poppy pattern on the reverse. I stamped the birthday greeting on my Whisper White, but that piece still needed a little something. I grabbed my Color Spritzer tool to add some spritz with the opposite color marker. I still need some practice with this tool. I used the largest circle punches and a circle from the Circles # 2 die for my cupcake. Had to add in the red glimmer cherry on top. Also, hard to see in the photo but I put three little rhinestones in the upper right corner coordinating with the circles in the pattern of the paper.

Happy Stampin',
Christine

Warm Felt Mittens

I really liked the Stamping 411 sketch again for this week and wanted to make a card with my felt mittens and it all seemed to work out perfect. Here is the sketch for my inspiration:

I decided to change up a few things since I felt that my card was very striking just as it is. I only did one panel down the middle, omitted the tag and put my ribbon right over my middle panel ribbon. That is why I love to play along with the operator's at 411 since everyone interprets the sketch differently. It is a great charge to your creativity!

Since I really wanted to use the felt mittens I just pulled my color combination from them. A little tip in the catalog is lists Real Red as being a coordinating color for them, but mine almost matched Cherry Cobbler. So that is how I got to my Frostwood Lodge Designer Series Paper and the Cherry Cobbler/Garden Green color combination. Using Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper makes it so easy to get your color combos.

The scallop square is from the Scallop duo die and the ribbon is the lovely seam binding in Cherry Cobbler. I have been adhering my felt pieces with glue dots and that seems to work best for me. This card is a great sample of a non-stamped card from Stampin' Up! - can you believe it?

Stamps: None!
Ink: None
Paper: Frostwood Lodge Designer Series Paper, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White & Garden Green cardstock
Other: Big Shot, Scallop Square Duo Bigz die, Winter Wishes Stitched Felt, Cherry Cobbler seam binding ribbon, glue dots

Valentine - Stamping 411 SSC188

Stop the presses! I have finally played along this week with the Operator's at Stamping 411. I have heard about this site for awhile from my wonderful upline and girlfriend Selene. I like to look at the sketches weekly for inspiration. Selene even includes dimensions to cut your cardstock or DSP so it is very easy to play along. Here is the sketch:

Here is my interpretation:

I was thinking of my Valentine class when I put this together. I knew that I wanted to use the Love Impressions Designer Series Paper. When  I looked closer at the large focal image I thought of hearts and decided to take it a step further and try out the inlaid embossing technique with my Big Shot and Square Lattice embossing folder. You just glue down the red and pink hearts and emboss the entire square with the Big Shot and folder. I added a bit of bling with two rhinestones.

The great thing about this card is that it could be a love, anniversary or wedding card by just switching out the sentiment. Do you like this card? Would you like to get a group of friends together to stamp a few cards? Contact me today to book a workshop. Sale-A-Bration is here and this is a great time of year to host a workshop.
